Who we are

Sino-Arabica is an independent, network-driven organization dedicated to fostering nuanced dialogue on Mideast-China relations.

What we do

The Sino-Arabica Project comports five inter-related initiatives:

Network of Peers

A meeting place for scholars and practitioners alike, the Sino-Arabica Network acts as a catalyst for exchange and collaboration among a new generation of individuals pursuing careers in the China-Mideast topic space.

A combination of virtual and in-person programming connects membership across the four continents and more than a dozen countries where they live and work.

Online Publication

Designed as a platform for novel, fact-based perspectives on Mideast-China relations, Sino-Arabica publishes articles ranging in discipline and format, with special attention to voices emanating from the regions concerned.

We invite those interested in contributing a piece on a political, linguistic, anthropological, economic, or other topic bearing on China-Mideast relations to submit a concise pitch via our contact page. Pieces may take the form of analysis, narrative, opinion, etc.

Data Observatory

Reliable data on China-Mideast remains scarce even as relations deepen.

The Sino-Arabica Data Observatory seeks to close knowledge gaps at this increasingly critical intersection, giving policymakers, businesses, civil society, and other stakeholders a reliable evidentiary base with which to build understanding and make informed decisions.

Policy Monitor

The Policy Monitor is a regular briefing designed to provide timely insight into China-Mideast policy using original-language releases from key administrative bodies, state and local media, and other sources.

The Monitor distills these materials into a structured account of evolving inter-regional engagement, helping policymakers, businesspeople, and analysts identify priorities, anticipate shifts, and respond with clarity.

Culture Lab

Fundamentally multimedia and experimental, the Culture Lab is a space to explore how inter-civilizational exchange manifests between Chinese and Perso-Arabic societies in areas such as the visual arts, performance, cuisine, religious tradition, and folk practices.

Where we are located

Members of our growing network are distributed across four continents and more than a dozen countries.

In the midst of an increasingly multipolar global environment, the Sino-Arabica Project endeavors to build out public consciousness of Mideast-China relations in all their complexity, drawing on the expertise of scholars and practitioners from a wide range of critical fields.
